A Research Study Conducted By Usher Et Al ( 2012 )

The aim of this literature review is to analyse and evaluate the quantitative research study conducted by Usher et al (2012). This is a randomised controlled trial that was undertaken to test a nurse led weight management and exercise intervention which was designed for participants with serious mental illness (SMI) who take second generation antipsychotic medications. This review will explore the strengths and weakness of its research methodology which includes study design, study sample, data collection and analysis by investigating their research study to find out if there is a link between individuals with serious mental health illness gaining weight from taking second generation antipsychotic medications. Mental illness is a medical condition that disturbs a person’s way of thinking, feeling, their mood, and the ability to relate to others and daily functioning.
